Phenolic foam roof insulation, which was specified and sold as a component in many low-slope Built-Up (BUR) and Single Ply Roof Systems as well as a composite component in steep-slope roof systems such as clay tile, from 1981 through 1992, may be the cause of a significant safety hazard to you and your personnel.

Premature structural steel roof deck corrosion has been found in many of these installations.

Please review your files on new construction and re-roofing projects for the time period mentioned. If Phenolic Foam was specified, or if you have other reasons to believe that it was installed, it would be advisable to restrict roof traffic until the problem has been resolved.
